The future can shape past memory

In our seminar this past quarter, Penny and I were interested in how seemingly irrelevant details of an experience come to have meaning.  This paper, recently published in Trends in Cognitive Science has made us think about this in a bit more detail, is what we are reading now, along with related citations.
